Interview With Travis From BetUS Partners

We sat down with Travis from BetUS Partners to discuss the MMA affiliate industry.  Travis has been working in the Industry for about 4 years.  After completing college with a BBA and Marketing diploma, he pictured himself working for a "Jerry Maguire"-like sports agency.  Travis gained much of his experience working for the infamous Sportsbook (Bo-something).  More recently he has found an exciting role in Sportsbook marketing as an affiliate manager with the BetUS team.  The Jerry Maguire dream came to fruition when one of his clients said, "Show me the money!"  He looks forward to making a positive to the BetUS Affiliate Program and its affiliates.

What makes BetUS the best sportsbook for affiliates to promote, specifically for mma betting?
We try to post our MMA/UFC lines for main cards as early as possible and the full card whenever possible. Obviously with the talent pool improving since the UFC take over of Pride we’ll offer full betting cards more often.

We also have an informative UFC-betting portal
http://www.betus.com/ufc-betting which has mma related articles, lines and podcast shows which are updated twice a week leading up to an event. We try to bring on some of the best minds, fans and athletes to our show as guests. We have had the likes of Din Thomas, Rory Singer, Kalib Starnes and Georges St. Pierre.

Good bonuses and friendly customer service.

What should affiliates know about MMA betting that differs from other sportsbetting?
I’m not sure if there is much of a difference here. I would assume that there is a difference. With top four sports there are some betting patterns that hold true for example 75% of favorites typically win the game and 65% of the times favorites cover the spread. I don’t believe there is standard winning percentage MMA. It’s always more likely for the favorite to win but the winning percentage history is short.

What kind of content on MMA sites (ex. fighter profiles, reviews) have you found to be the most successful at increasing conversions?
I think that affiliate sites who have a real community will typically convert better. I don’t think that one article will do it. Some fight fans will never put their money where there mouth is and that’s fine. I think that sports and the Vegas line have become hand in hand. The same should happen with MMA, fight fans want to make a prediction and get richer from being right. Sites that use a better analysis with their matchup articles will have more comments and a stronger community base. This in itself should help convert fans to become players with a sportsbook.

Describe the non-MMA related features of BetUS that increases conversions and customer loyalty.
Well we have all sorts of company loyalty programs which are focused at player retention. Players can earn player points from the action they wager and at different times through out the year they can cash this in for prizes. Prizes included NFL jerseys, tickets to a game of their choice, sports memorabilia and more. We also have other free contest that players can enter like a March Madness bracket buster contest. Other things which can help out our affiliates are the various marketing tools we have Trackable RSS feeds (which will soon be sport category specific), xml feeds for lines, constant flow of new banners, betting-portals, matchup tools ect.

What are the key ingredients to a successful affiliate partnership?
I assume making money. The relationships between us and our affiliates always seem to be cemented closer when both parties are making money from the effort.

As an affiliate, if you put the time and effort in you will eventually see a good return at the end of the month. Sometimes it just takes time. The worst advice can be summed up with the ‘Field of Dreams quote: "If you build it, they will come". No they certainly won’t. Just because you have a site doesn’t mean anything in our competitive landscape.

"Constant effort will get constant results".

What about the BetUS Partners program stands out from other affiliate programs?
Our Program is simple and straight forward the more money that comes in at the end of the month, the more you’ll make.

Our Affiliate Managers are very helpful and easy going. We allow all affiliates no matter how big or small to become a member.

What are the best ways to promote MMA events and PPV's on a website to generate traffic and increase conversions?
Keep your site updated. Keep it simple and informative. SEO work and indexing your articles are just a couple ways to bring traffic into your site.

What are the best methods your affiliates can use to generate leads?
- Attending Networking Events
- Search Engine Marketing (SEO)
- Web Strategy (targeting the right audiences)
- Collect Contact Information
- Link Exchanges
- Use Your Signature In All Emails (include your url)
- Get Visitors To Subscribe To Online Newsletters

What do you see as the most essential things an MMA affiliate can do today to achieve long term success?
Maintain your site. As a webmaster or website owner you have to keep an updated informative site. This will keep people coming back and increase your traffic. The Sport of MMA is still growing which will produce many different and creative ways to keep their attention. The whole web influence will continue to be the easiest way for people to follow this sport. With the help of UFC’s TV growth this sport will have lots of coverage in the future. Another thing is that you should try to give back to your audience when you can. Promotions, giveaway, deals, whatever it takes.
